Senator O.K sentenced to 6years.

Former Abia Governor and a serving senator, Orji Kalu, was sentenced to today, he will spend six years.

According to the prison calendar, a prisoner spends a day as two which implies that for a jail term of two years, the prisoner will spend just one year.

Going by the provisions of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) Mr Kalu will spend six years in Ikoyi Prisons.

Invariably, the expiration of the six years will be when the serving senator clocks 65.

It should be noted that the former Senate chief whip will miss the 2023 election as his jail term will be due in 2025.

In an amended 39 counts charge, they were accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of conspiring and diverting over N7 billion from the coffers of the state.

Several Nigerians have also commended the conviction of the serving senator. They said it beams more hope in the judicial system.

NEW BILL- Get your TIN before 2020.

Nigerians are in for a shock as the Finance Bill currently passed by National Assembly has amended sections 33, 49 & 58 of the Personal Income Tax Act. Thus, individuals are required to produce their Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) before they can operate existing or new bank accounts in Nigeria.

What this means is that, if you don't have TIN, you will not be able to operate your bank account. This may come as shock to many, but the important thing to do at this point is to ensure you have a TIN as the date for implementation has been set for 2nd of January 2020. The minister of finance, Zainab Ahmed, made this known to the public.

If you run a registered business and have dealings with government, there is a likelihood you already have your TIN, so you should not have issues. The idea of this new law is to get more Nigerians into the tax net.

Obtaining TIN is FREE of charge, you should not pay for it. Also there are no age limits in having TIN as teenagers are obliged to pay Tax if they receive income from a company. The only exemptions are on certain thresholds of income.

If you want to verify your TIN or to know if you have one, you can go to the Joint Tax Board website. https://tinverification.jtb.gov.ng

STD Superbug.

STD Superbug May Be Deadlier Than AIDS; Kills Within Days.

There is an STD superbug that some experts say may be more deadly than AIDS and could cause an epidemic.
According to a report originally published in 2013, antibiotic-resistant strain of gonorrhea is more aggressive than AIDS, which means the potential to infect the public will be exponentially greater.
Like most STDs, gonorrhea is transmitted through unprotected sexual contact and if left untreated, can cause a myriad of medical complications, such as infertility in women, debilitating pain and sterility in men and life-threatening heart infections.
Alan Christianson, a doctor of naturopathic medicine, thinks this new deadly STD has the power to kill more than the 30 million people who have already died from AIDS-related causes worldwide, which would be catastrophic.
