THE SEED WE SOW
As long as the earth endures, seed time an harvest time shall not cease.(Gen 8:22).
We are the architect of our own misfortune and also our Goodwill. There will be many truths left untold, many secrets left unrevealed as long as we fail to call black "black" and white,"White".
The rate at which young girls and boys are being sexually abused remain remarkably appalling. Within a period of three months,a clinic in the diaspora recorded 7 cases of rape incidence of which four were underaged children.
The question becomes, who are these kids? Where do they come from?Where did the learn such hideous acts from? The predators amongst them, why can't they be on leash?
Nonetheless, the crux of the matter remains that rape in most instances, does not just happen. The thought has been perpetuated before it is being actualized. Hence, curbing the abuse should involve the "thought cycle" of the predator and the prey, yes "the prey".
Firstly, every parent and or guardian should take up the responsibility of educating the male and female child on sexual health and well being. This phase should involve physical, psychological and spiritual aspect. Let them know what sexual organs are,why those organs need to be appropriately covered and taken care of. Teach them that those parts are not for fun until they are grown.
The parents and adults in the home have roles to play too. From dressing decently to ensuring the child does same. When a father sags his pants, what do you think is growing in the boys' mind. The mother s too,in as much as you dress to appeal to your man, remember the girls are watching you. You can afford to dress freely at home but not on the streets. It is disheartening to see 5-10year olds walking almost uncladed. As your partner is tickled seeing you in such, that is how these predators see your little innocent ones. Remember, you won't be there.
Please, wake up from the deception of "we are in a modern world". Twenty first century countries are civilized. As far as one can remember, this part of the world has ALWAYS victimized the victims.
Secondly, the environment plays a great role. Sometimes, when you ask a parent where his/her kids are,you hear some unimaginable answers like-" they should be with my neighbor",they went out to play","they travelled with their friends ".
Note, for some situations one can't help but leave the kids behind. But it is of your utmost benefit to entrust the care of your wards to a trusted and responsible adult though the word "trust" is far-fetched nowadays. This is so because, your trusted friend/neighbor might have irresponsible adults leaving with him or her. The adults in the home where your kids are, should not be the type that litter x-rated magazines or videos all over. These kids operate at the level of computers. Their memories are very apt.
Finally, let these children be taught the fear of God. Let them be taught how to love. Develop the culture of morning devotion. Yes,it is necessary. Study the word of God with them before everyone sets out for the day. It builds up their Faith and morals. it gives them a sense of responsibility for opposite sex.
Sow the right seeds inside of them. It will keep rape at bay.
